THE GREAT TRIBULATION

INTRODUCTION

"Woe to those who yearn for the day of Jehovah! What, then, will the day of Jehovah mean for you? It will be darkness, and not light" (Amos 5:18)

"Woe to those who yearn for the day of Jehovah! What, then, will the day of Jehovah mean for you? It will be darkness, and not light" (Amos 5:18). The article below, about the great tribulation is written in the same mind of Amos 5:18, seriousness and sadness. When a meteorologist or a team of engineers, analyze the terrifying satellite images of a category 5 cyclone, with winds exceeding 300 km / h (160 knot/h), their feelings could be very mixed. They are between the need to warn the populations concerned, without triggering a general panic, which could worsen the situation. It is the same with regard to the great tribulation: There is a biblical duty to warn, without panicking people. It is necessary to show that the great tribulation is a very close event, which will really happen, while showing as clearly as possible, what it is necessary to do to survive. Jesus Christ himself announced this great tribulation, with a particular reference to the prophecy of Daniel:

"During that time Michael will stand up, the great prince who is standing in behalf of your people. And there will occur a time of distress such as has not occurred since there came to be a nation until that time" (Daniel 12:1).

"For then there will be great tribulation such as has not occurred since the world’s beginning until now, no, nor will occur again" (Matthew 24:21).

The prophecy of Daniel, and also, the prophecy of the Revelation, announce that there will be a great crowd of survivors:

"And during that time your people will escape, everyone who is found written down in the book" (Daniel 12:1).

"After this I saw, and look! a great crowd, which no man was able to number, out of all nations and tribes and peoples and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, dressed in white robes; and there were palm branches in their hands. (…) In response one of the elders said to me: “These who are dressed in the white robes, who are they and where did they come from?” So right away I said to him: “My lord, you are the one who knows.” And he said to me: “These are the ones who come out of the great tribulation, and they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb" (Revelation 7:9,13,14).

It is the prophecy of Zechariah which gives the most precise information about the great tribulation, to the point of announcing that this "great crowd", which will come out of the great tribulation, will be a third part of the current humankind: "And in all the land,” declares Jehovah, “Two parts in it will be cut off and perish; And the third part will be left remaining in it.  And I will bring the third part through the fire; And I will refine them as silver is refined, And test them as gold is tested. They will call on my name, And I will answer them. I will say, ‘They are my people,’ And they will say, ‘Jehovah is our God" (Zechariah 13:8,9). The people that God is in the process of constituting, will be the size of a third part of the current humanity, and of course all those who are reading these lines, sincerely desire to be a part of it (Malachi 3:16). It is for this main purpose that this biblical article is written: knowing how to survive the future great tribulation and to come in the future earthly paradise promised by God (Revelation 21:3,4).

Many biblical prophecies designate the great tribulation as the "Day of Jehovah". While referring to it, this article will primarily rely on the prophecy Zechariah, to know what is the great tribulation and when it will happen.

What is the Great Tribulation?

The Great Tribulation is the time when Jehovah God, through his Son King Jesus Christ, will end to this system of things

To put it very simply, this is the time when Jehovah God, through his Son King Jesus Christ, will end to this system of things (Revelation 14:15-20; 19:11-21 ). Other biblical prophecies refer to the Great Tribulation as the "Day of Jehovah": "Blow a horn in Zion! Shout a war cry in my holy mountain. Let all the inhabitants of the land tremble, For the day of Jehovah is coming! It is near! It is a day of darkness and gloom, A day of clouds and thick gloom, Like light of dawn spreading out on the mountains" (Joel 1:15; 2:1,2; see also Amos 5:18-21; Obadiah 15; Zephaniah chapter 1 and 2:1-4; Zechariah chapters 12, 13, 14).

How long will the Great Tribulation last?

ONE DAY

After careful reading of all the prophetic texts mentioning the "Day of Jehovah" or the "Great Tribulation", it can be said, without a shadow of a doubt, that this day will last only ONE DAY.

The clearest prophetic text over its duration is that of Zechariah and the Book of Revelation, both of which describe the Day of Jehovah as one day, or the only date of one day:

"And it will become one day that is known as belonging to Jehovah. It will not be day, nor will it be night; and at evening time there will be light" (Zechariah 14:7).

This text alone shows that it is a 24-hour day, and not a period of few days, because it is written that at the time of day, it will be neither day nor night, and that at the time of evening there will be light. However, the most explicit text is that of the book of Revelation, where this Day is connected with a date on the Jewish calendar. In Revelation 11:18, it is written: "But the nations became wrathful, and your own wrath came, and the appointed time came for the dead to be judged and to reward your slaves the prophets and the holy ones and those fearing your name, the small and the great, and to bring to ruin those ruining the earth" (Revelation 11:18). This text refers to the time of the Great Tribulation, when God "will bring ruin to those who ruin the earth". However, what is even more interesting, is that verse 19 repeats this time in enigmatic way, connecting the Day of Jehovah withe the vision of the ark of his covenant: "And the temple sanctuary of God in heaven was opened, and the ark of his covenant was seen in his temple sanctuary. And there were flashes of lightning and voices and thunders and an earthquake and a great hail" (Revelation 11:19).

This verse has two main parts: The first is the vision of the "ark of his covenant", the date of only one day. Indeed, Jehovah God did not allow to see the ark of his covenant (by the high priest), any day other than Ethanim (Tishri), 10 (Leviticus 16:2,29). The second part of the verse 19, is the symbolic description of the Great Tribulation. The Ethanim, 10 (Tishri), corresponds to the dramatic celebration of the Day of Atonement. The process of celebration is described in Leviticus chapter 16. It is a dramatic moment, because it describes symbolically, what will happen during the Day of Jehovah, the Great Tribulation. It will be a day of sadness, because Jehovah had given this instruction regarding this day: "It is a sabbath of complete rest for you, and you should afflict yourselves. It is a lasting statute" (Leviticus 16:31).

Can we know the date of the Day of Jehovah?

By analyzing the prophecies regarding this Day, it must fulfill seven biblical criteria and as long as these seven criteria are not all fulfilled, there will be no certainty. For each of the criteria there is a detailed biblical examination. Here are the seven criteria:

The seven criteria

The date of the Day of Jehovah, according to the Bible prophecy, must have seven important criteria, all of which, together, determine the "moment" (Revelation 3:3)

INTRODUCTION

The date of the Day of Jehovah, according to the Bible prophecy, must have seven important criteria, all of which, together, determine the "moment" (Revelation 3:3). Until these seven criteria are all met, this date cannot be determined with certainty. That is why, when Jesus Christ spoke of the great tribulation, in 33 CE, he said: "Keep on the watch, therefore, because you do not know on what day your Lord is coming." (Matthew 24:42; 25:13). However, in Revelation 3:3, in 96 CE, 63 years later, the glorified Jesus Christ made it clear that the time would come when we could know in advance, the date of his coming, to not be surprised and to be prepared spiritually: "Certainly unless you wake up, I will come as a thief, and you will not know at all at what hour I will come upon you" (Revelation 3: 3). The expression, "you will not know at all at what hour I will come upon you", makes it possible to understand that the disciples "spiritually awakened", at the due time of God, will be able to know sufficiently in advance, the day and the hour, of the coming of King Jesus Christ, in order to be in spiritual condition to have his approval (Matthew 25:31). "For the Sovereign Lord Jehovah will not do a thing Unless he has revealed his confidential matter to his servants the prophets" (Amos 3:7).

1) The Day of Jehovah will be in Ethanim, 10 (Tishri) (Revelation 11:19).

2) The Ethanim, 10 (Tishri), will be in a lunisolar year of 13 months, because the prophecy of Ezekiel, by comparing 39:12 and 40:1, we find that from Ethanim, 10 (Tishri) to Nisan, 10, it there will be 7 months, and not 6 (that is the information of a lunisolar year of 13 months). The year 2023, will be a biblical lunisolar year of 13 months.

3) The Ethanim, 10 (Tishri), must correspond to the passage from summer, to autumn (considered as the beginning of winter in the Bible) (Zechariah 14:8). By the way, the biblical new moon is not that of the current Jewish calendar. Psalms 81:3 (Bible), allows us to understand that the new moon represents its complete disappearance, in ambivalence (in this Psalm) to the appearance of the full moon: "Blow the horn on the new moon, On the full moon, for the day of our festival" (Psalms 81:3). This means that the biblical Ethanim, 10 (Tishri) is two days ahead of the current Jewish calendar, which is based on the first visible quarter. The biblical Ethanim, 10 (Tishri), corresponds to the Tishri, 8 (Ethanim) of the current Jewish calendar (which is two days late). The biblical Ethanim,10 (Tishri) 2023, corresponds to this passage from summer, to autumn (beginning of winter (according to biblical criterion)): Friday, September 22 after sunset (still summer) / Saturday, September 23, 2023 (transition, in this day, to the autumn equinox).

4) The Ethanim, 10 (Tishri), must correspond to a jubilee year. "But as these things start to occur, stand up straight and lift up your heads, because your deliverance is getting near" (Luke 21:28). By the word "deliverance", Jesus Christ implied that the Day of Jehovah, the Great Tribulation, the Ethanim, 10 (Tishri), will correspond to a release, the Jubilee, proclaimed precisely the tenth day, of the seventh month (of the biblical calendar, Ethanim): "You will then sound the horn loudly in the seventh month, on the tenth of the month; on the Day of Atonement, you should cause the sound of the horn to be heard in all your land. You must sanctify the 50th year and proclaim liberty in the land to all its inhabitants. It will become a Jubilee for you, and each of you will return to his property and each of you should return to his family" (Leviticus 25:9,10). The Ethanim, 10 (Tishri) 2023, corresponds to the beginning of the year 6050, of the existence of the mankind on earth, according to the Bible.

5) According to Leviticus 27:21, this jubilee year must also be a holy year, that is, belonging both to Jehovah and to the king and high priest Jesus Christ. How will, the year (Ethanim / Tishri) 2023/2024, be holy? According to the chronological calculation of the prophecy of Daniel 4, Jesus Christ began to reign in Heavens, in autumn 1914: Thus autumn 1914 was the beginning of the first year of the heavently reign of Christ. What is the year beginning with the autumn of 2023? In the autumn 2013, the hundredth year of the heavenly reign of Christ began (one tenth of the number of years in the 1000 years of his reign). In the autumn of 2023, the 110th year of the heavenly reign of Christ, will begin (The tenth (100), plus the "tenth of the tenth" (10)). Where in the Bible it is written that this year should belong to Jehovah and Jesus Christ? According to biblical rule, the tenth of the tenth belongs to Jehovah and to his Son high priest, Jesus Christ, this year will belong to them, or will be holy: According to the Bible, the reign of king Jesus Christ will be 1000 years (Revelation 20:1-6 ): The beginning of the 110th year, the Ethanim, 10 (Tishri) 2023, will correspond to the tenth of 1000 years, 100 years, plus the tenth of the tenth of 1000 years, 10 years: 110 years. According to the prophetic value of the mosaic law which will be fulfilled in reality, this year from autumn 2023 to autumn 2024, will be holy and will belong to Jehovah and his Son high priest Jesus Christ (Hebrews 10; Colossians 2 : 17):

"You should tell the Levites, ‘You will receive from the Israelites the tenth part that I have given to you from them for your inheritance, and you should contribute from it a tenth part of the tenth part as a contribution to Jehovah. And it will be considered your contribution, as though it were the grain of the threshing floor or the full production of the winepress or oil press. In this way you will also give a contribution to Jehovah from all the tenth parts that you receive from the Israelites, and from them you are to give the contribution for Jehovah to Aaron the priest" (Numbers 18:26-28). The tenth of the tenth belongs to Jehovah, but also to Jesus Christ, the heavenly high priest. The autumn of 2023 will be the beginning of the year of the tenth plus the tenth of the tenth (of the reign of 1000 years), the year 110 of the reign of Christ, which will belong to Jehovah and Jesus Christ (Revelation 20:1-6 ).

Consequently, the jubilee year 2023/2024 has a double convergence (year 6050 of the existence of mankind and the year 110 of the heavenly reign of Christ). This double convergence is a double witnessing (Compare with Matthew 18:16).

6) The Day of Jehovah will be Sabbath (on the Jubilee): However Jesus Christ seems to be indirectly alluding to the fact that the Day of Jehovah could be a Sabbath last day of week (Saturday), Friday (evening) / Saturday, when he said to those who should flee from Jerusalem: "Keep praying that your flight may not occur in wintertime nor on the Sabbath day" (Matthew 24:20). Now, according to the prophecy of Zechariah 14: 8, the Day of Jehovah will take place in the transition from summer to autumn, biblically considered to be the beginning of winter. In addition, September 22/23, 2023, corresponds to a Sabbath, since these two dates are Friday (evening) / Saturday.

7) The Ethanim, 10 (Tishri), must be during the reign of the last king with the cheeky and grimacing face, having contempt for the law, a world destroyer and astute in detecting the intrigues (Daniel 8:23-25). Regarding this seventh point, we have to wait for the re-election of the last king of current world power, in November 2020.

The only year that will meet these seven criteria is the year 2023, Ethanim, 10 (Tishri), 2023. It is enough to wait for the reelection of the last king who despises the law, to have the final confirmation that this year is to be pointed as the moment of the Day of Jehovah (Zechariah 14:7,8).
